2007 NDHR Poster Contest Winners

NDHR had poster contest for youth in grades 7 - 12 across Canada. We had over 50 entries representing every province in Canada. The entries were awarded a 1, 2, or 3 place by each judge and there were 22 judges. The ballots were tallied and the winner was selected by how many votes they received from the judges. Just to make sure we also gave 3 points for a first place vote, 2 points for a 2nd place vote and 1 point for a 3rd place vote and the results were the same. We thank all those who entered the contest and we will be featuring other entries on the web site, so check back often.

First place poster winner - Julia B. from Manitoba

Explanation: The purple people standing around the circle holding hands represent reconciliation; they are displaying friendship by holding hands. Reconciliation to me means friendship. Purple is a colour representing healing or reconciliation,

The five colours in the circle represent a heart chart. I’ve always believed that when a heart gets broken; like when someone hurts your feelings a heart will turn completely black. So the black at the bottom of the circle represents a fully broken heart. The grey part shows it’s getting better. The yellow section is the biggest because it is the source of your heart, the biggest part of the healing.

The orange represents the part of healing where the heart is almost better. Finally the last section of the circle is red to show that the heart has finally, fully healed or perfectly healthy. So you may notice that colour gets brighter and lighter as you raise the bar higher showing the theme of a healing heart.
